Vapor Intrusion
Vapor intrusion is typically conceptualized as shown in this figure.
Gases from impacted soil and/or groundwater beneath a building diffuse toward the lower areas of a building (e.g., the atmosphere, conduits, basements).
Soil gas can flow into a building due to a number of factors.
A Vapor Intrusion pathway is a source or migration route into a structure.
Life Safety can perform field testing and system design to help reduce exposure to vapor gases. Systems designs are based on several factors including analytical results in the field.
